How to configure Uplink with all vLAN on Dell N2024 or N2048
In this tutorial you will learn how to configure your Dell N2024 or N2048 Uplink port to use all vLAN’s. We will configure the port as a Trunk afterwards allow all vLAN passthrough and then set a native vLAN for device management.
Let’s get started.
Step 1: Use your Console Cable or SSH into your Dell N2024 or N2048 switch using Putty.
Step 2: After you have access type in enable and your password. Once logged in type in config.

Step 3: Now decide which port you want to be your Uplink port. In my case I will be using port 24 on my Dell N2024 switch.

nIn these few steps I will be showing you how to configure a Dell N3024 or n3048 switch. We will be using putty and a series of commands to get these Dell switches.
- Download and install PUTTY onto the computer you will be using to configure the Dell N3024 or n3048 switch.
- Make your life easier with a USB Console Cable. But yes you will need one of these to configure the switch.
- Unpack your Dell N3024 or n3048 switch.
- Make sure you have the Console cable connected to the switch and the computer.
- Open up Putty. Make sure to select the Serial radio button. Keep the Speed at 9600 you may have to change the serial line from COM1 to COM2 or COM3 to get connected to the switch.

Update Firmware On Dell N2024 Switches
These are a few steps on how to Update Firmware On Dell N2024 Switches
- Before making any configurations, we will want to make sure that the switches have latest firmware.
- Grab the Switch Service Tag and go to the dell website and download the latest firmware.
- Since the creation of this article the latest firmware for my Dell N2024 is N2100v6.6.0.13.A03
- We will need a USB Thumb Drive and extract the firmware N2000Stdv6.6.0.13.stk and place it into the root of the USB Drive.
- We will be updating the switches individually plug in your usb drive to the front of the switch.
- Plug in your console cable from the switch to your computer.
- Plug in the power cable just to the one switch and it should start booting up
- Use Putty to get connected to COM3 through whatever COM number.
