How To Transfer Unifi UDM Pro Owner

In this tutorial you will learn in a few simple steps on how to transfer Unifi UDM Pro Owner to a new ui.com owner account. This will come handy when you acquired a new client or accidently used the wrong account to register the UDM Pro into unifi.ui.com

Option 1

Step 1: Make sure you have local access via IP to your UDM Pro before proceeding.

Step 2: Log into unifi.ui.com using the old ui.com owner account and all except the owner, remove all accounts that have access to your UDM Pro.

Step 3: Use the old owner account to log into UDM Pro using IP address

Step 4: Create a backup of all UDM Pro configurations.

Step 5: Create a new Super Admin “Local Access Only” account.

Step 6:  Now in the UDM Pro settings disable Remote Access by going to

  • Settings
  • Advanced
  • “Remote Access”.

Step 7: Log in with the new Local Admin

Step 8: Make sure that you are completely logged off ui.com with the previous owner account and log into the new ui.com owner account.

Step 9: Re-enable “Remote Access” and sign in using the new owner credentials.

Step 10: Add all other users back if needed.

Option 2

Make sure your UDM Pro has UniFi OS UDM Pro 1.11.0

Step 1: Log into unifi.ui.com with the current owner

Step 2: We will now provide access to the new Owner Email Account

  1. Click Users
  2. Click Add User
  3. Select Super Admin Role
  4. Enter new Owner Email
  5. Click Add

Step 3: Accept the Email Invite for the new owner account.

Step 4: Access your UniFi OS for the UDM Pro.

  1. Click Settings.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Click Transfer Owner.
  4. On the Popup, from the dropdown select the new Owner.
  5. Click Transfer.

Step 5: Make sure you can access the firewall locally via IP as well with the new owner. If not create a new local account for it.

Option 3

Factory reset your UDM Pro and reconfigure.

  1. Access your UniFi OS for the UDM Pro.

  2. Click Settings.

  3. Click Advanced.

  4. Click Factory Reset.

  5. Wait and reconfigure with correct Owner Account.

  1. Setup UDM pro via web console not the IOS app, having impossible time getting it to connect to my global UI account

    1. After the creation of this post Unifi made another option available. Locally log into the UDM PRO though its IP click on the UniFI OS for the UDM PRO. Within Console Settings you can transfer Ownership or your Global UI account.

You can also add additional admins within Admins section and use the ubiquiti account option.

You just need to transfer the other UDM to the existing account. From the UniFi OS, click console settings and scroll down until you see Transfer Ownership.

  4. HI patrick,

It seems that I cannot grant ownership to a new user allthoug the user is added as admin with full access rights
I have MFA on the new user.

in the drop down I don’t get the ability to choose the new to be owner.

what can be the issue, you think?

    kind regards

    Erik

    1. Hello Erik,

Thank you for visiting! Let’s see if I can help you out. Log into the UDM Pro using its IP address and use the local admin account. Let me know if you are able to make the change.

      Thank you,

  5. Hello Patrick, I have a question. Does transferring ownership of a UDM, causes a UBB to lose its configuration?
